Since 1999, we have had 3 fire fatalities in the Municipality of West Nipissing. This is unacceptable! How will we prevent any more fire-related deaths/injuries from happening. The answer: through preparation, detection and practising fire prevention.
Develop your home fire escape plan and practising fire drills at least once every year in your home or building.

Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in your home or building. There should be at least one smoke detector per storey in your home and a carbon monoxide detector if applicable. It is the law! One per storey in your home and outside sleeping areas is the law but the more you have, the better protection you will have and the quicker you will be alerted.
Did you know that almost 50% of smoke alarms in homes do not work? How about yours? Test it today, before we do!
