A little more than half of the summer has pass by, the fire service has not had to respond to any brush or forest fires caused by unsafe use of a campfire. We would like to commend the residents and visitors for being fire safe conscience while enjoying their campfires. A safe campfire is a small contained fire on a non-combustible surface surrounded by non-combustible sides, clear of overhead trees or branches and supervised at all times. Fire suppression equipment should be in close proximity (pails of water or garden hose, sand, shovel). Be conscious of the wind direction and respect your neighbours.
Only clean solid-fuels are allowed to be burnt (wood). M.N.R. Hazard Risk for forest fire is at “MODERATE” therefore no fire ban
The West Nipissing Fire Service wishes everyone a continued fire safe summer.
